"Oh, honey."
Sam smiles gently, scratching your arm as you go in and out of consciousness in the recovery room. You'd be good to go in a few minutes, and Sam couldn't wait to get you to sleep at the motel. He'd taken you to get your wisdom teeth removed since they'd started to hurt you a couple months ago. Nothing made him feel worse than you in pain.
"Can you look at me, sweetheart, or are you too sleepy?"
He chuckles softly, brushing your hair. You had gauze shoved in your mouth, looking like a little chipmunk. Sam thought it was so cute. You shake your head back and forth, babbling almost incoherently with all that junk in your mouth.
"Wanna water..goodnight."
Sam snorts at the words that he can make out, reaching to the tray beside you to get a plastic cup of water.
"Open a little, honey."
He says softly, holding the cup to your lips. You try to drink it, only getting a couple drops as the rest of it spills down your shirt. Sam pulls the cup back, realizing your lips must be numb still.
"It's okay, sweetheart, you'll be able to drink better soon."
