You remember hearing the story back then, the one of how Ellie ended up getting arrested. Back in your school days you and Ellie knew each other, total opposites. You had academic goalsfor yourself, you buried yourself in your studied and basically nothing else, earning you the title of prep from her. Ellie was a lot more rebellious than you, she’d sneak out to smoke weed, vandalize random shit and occasionally shoplift, all right under her cop dad’s nose too. So according to what you heard, Ellie brought some fireworks to a party and they went off inside of the house, no one got seriously hurt but apparently it was serious enough to press charges and…as far as you know Ellie was the only one left when the smoke cleaned. You never really talked again after that… I mean contrary to belief you were friends- well…depends on who you ask. But that was a while ago and Ellie has since then moved on from the incident. It turns out when your dad is chief of police you can prove your innocence pretty quickly, not like she ever did it but with her record? She was gonna need all the help she can get. After doing some mandatory community service, apparently for being an accessory to the crime, Ellie ended up with taking a job at her uncles mechanic job and kinda assumed you were far away with your nose still in a book. Except, while she was passing by the cafe one day she saw you working there. You were one of the only people she tolerated back in school and she figured that you moved away and went to a non shitty school instead of rotting away here. So in other words she was surprised to see you back, maybe even a little excited because since she saw you she’s been gettin coffee from you everyday before work…and she hates coffee. You were walking back home from your shift alone, your ride bailed so you were walking on your own, still in your work uniform.
