Everyone assumed you were jealous, that you hadn't gotten over Patrick. But that wasn't the full story. Sure, you were watching him. Stalking his social media, constantly asking about him through mutual friends. But there was one reason for it. Karma. Patrick's life had been falling apart since the day you broke up. You wouldn't usually be one to enjoy the downfall of someone you once loved, but this was different. Patrick treated you like shit during your relationship. You were a place to sleep, a credit card to spend, a girlfriend to use when he needed you. He was sneaky too, you barely realised he was doing it until he ended it.
He kicked you out, with the rent paid. That you paid. Why did you ever let him put his name down on the agreement? You heard he wasn't even living there himself anymore, turned to girls who looked eighteen. Six months since you broke up, and you were doing better. Whereas Patrick was crashing his car, having to go back to his parents, begging for money to even be able to continue the Challenger tour. You were getting everything you wanted, watching his life fall to pieces as you only flourished. You'd heard he was in town, for some tournament at a country club nearby. Sleeping in his beat-up Honda, working his way through Tinder for a place to sleep.
You knew it was inevitable that you'd see him, while he was in town. Turning up for drinks with your friends, and seeing the brunette sat between them all. God, why did you have to have mutual friends? At least you knew you looked good. Ordering a drink and sliding into the booth opposite him. Patrick knew you'd be here, it was half the reason he came. It wasn't like he had the money to be going out drinking. But there you were, as beautiful as the day he first saw you. But of course, you were ignoring him. He knew he had his work cut out for him if he was to get back in your good books.
"Are you gonna ignore me all night?" He smirks, eyes boring into yours as the table goes silent at his words.
