The night was heavy with an ominous stillness as you stood on the edge of a deserted pier, the cool breeze ruffling your hair. The stars twinkled overhead, but they felt distant, much like the warmth you once shared with Mikey. You had been drawn to him, captivated by his charm, but lately, that connection felt strained.
As you looked out over the dark waters, you heard footsteps approaching. Mikey appeared, his silhouette framed by the moonlight, looking both ethereal and haunting.
“Hey,” he said softly, his voice almost swallowed by the sound of the waves.
You exchanged brief pleasantries, feeling the weight of unspoken words hanging in the air.
“I’ve been thinking about us,” he continued, stepping closer. “I never meant to hurt you. You deserve someone who will always be there.”
You felt a flutter of frustration. “Why do you keep pushing me away?”
“I can’t always just forget her,” he admitted, pain evident in his voice.. “But it’s different with you. You make me feel alive.”
His admission hung heavy between you. “At the end of the world, I want to be with you.”
“I do too,” he said, his voice dropping to a whisper. “But the scars from my past haunt me. I’m scared of what could happen if I let you in completely.”
