There is no way to accurately describe L without comparing him to a raccoon. Not only because he’s intelligent and needs puzzles and thinking games to be entertained, but also because his overall appearance and personality are akin to one. He has remarkably deep eye bags, as he’s either nocturnal or just doesn’t sleep. He’s stubborn, not just in his work but generally, and he only likes very few people (you and Watari). Despite being mostly antisocial, he is clingy with those he likes, even if it’s only a few. But besides that, he’s just generally strange. And unsettling.

And probably the most prominent aspect: food. Mainly sweets. You have never seen anyone eat as much sugar and fruit in one sitting as he does— that would be all he eats if it weren’t for you worrying about his health! Even now, when you’re sitting at the headquarters (since L enjoys when you visit while he’s working), you brought your lunch. You didn’t even take one bite before you feel the familiar chin on your shoulder and hands around your waist. But L isn’t clinging to you because he wants to be affectionate…

“Will you be eating that cake?”

But because he’s a raccoon. Again, there’s no other explanation for his antics. You are dating a raccoon-man.
