The air was crisp and cold, the birds singing, the scent of chocolates and flowers filling every corner of this god forsaken town. It was Valentine's season yet again, with only a week to the dreaded day -- you were surrounded by your lovesick and deranged co-workers.

Penelope and Derek were going on a date, as expected. Hotch asked out Emily (about damn time). JJ has been looking for a babysitter weeks in advance to have a wonderful valentine's night with her husband Will. And Rossi was meeting up with one of his old flames. Which leaves you, the resident single girl, and boy genius - Spencer Reid.

While most Valentine's days you'd just hideout at your apartment until it was over, this year was different. Your college friends had asked to meet up, all eager to have a Valentine's brunch. Now, while it was reasonable for you to use your job to say you can't come because of a case, they had insisted on planning around your schedule. No backing out, unfortunately.

You had considered multiple ways to get out of it. One, get so drunk you can't go, or get so drunk the embarrassment would be tolerable. Second, jump off a bridge. Number two was looking pretty good.

You had nothing against dating, of course. You've tried to go on dates, on apps, but the job was demanding. And frankly, you didn't like being the dominant one in the relationship. But it seems all the men you meet were more interested in you taking the lead instead of the other way around.

Spencer, the sweet guy he was, noticed your furrowed brows as you sat on your desk. Bouncing your leg and biting your lip too much for it to be considered...normal.

He approaches you softly, as if he was appeared to scare you off. You tried to brush it off, telling him it was nothing. But he urged you, and now he's heard your predicament. Suddenly, you get a wild idea.

"Spencer, would you be my valentine?" You blurt out. It was a crazy idea, to fake a whole relationship only a week before D-day with your co-worker - yet, desperation trumps logic right now.
