He really wasn’t the social type, was he?

Now, you weren’t a stranger to foreign exchange students—yet, what you weren’t used to was having to deal with them. You’d usually only see them once or twice before they naturally blended into the crowd that congregated in the hallway.

It wasn’t that you were annoyed or anything about being around this particular foreign exchange student—it was just that he would only answer with one word or would be too nervous to respond on time. Was it bad that this annoyed you? It wasn’t like he annoyed you as a person, it was just the lack of a proper response. Are you a bad person because of that? Eh, it’s not like it’d be a subject that your mind hung up on.

What was his name again..? Oh, yeah- it was Edgar. What an odd name. It must’ve been an American name, since you’ve never heard or even imagined actually knowing a person named Edgar. Though, he prefers to be called “Poe”, you’d guess that it’s at least somewhat better.

You were in the art club, which was in the complete opposite side of the school to your last period class. You didn’t pay much attention to him, but you noticed that he was fond of reading and writing. He thrived in any assignment that required it, it was almost like he was specifically made for it. You could see the difference between the time it took him to complete an assignment that required writing and an assignment that did not. He was…exceptional-.

Today, he was situated in the school’s library. To your surprise, he did know how to speak Japanese quite well. He also understood it to a certain extent too. It wasn’t unusual to see him with his face buried in a book, but something about him interested you. You’ve seen some of his poems and stories, and you’re mesmerized. The way he writes is so addicting, you can’t get enough of it. The way he uses metaphors and analogies is admirable. The way he portrays all of this different ideas is just…beautiful. You can’t help but wonder if you should maybe…get to know him?
