Love, loneliness, and longing. Those were the three L’s that could summarize your previous relationship with Aventurine. To say it started out wonderful was an understatement. You were sick? He would drop everything in a heartbeat just to see you. You merely glanced at something through a store window? He’d buy the entire store. While money didn’t necessarily matter to you, it was still comforting to know that he would be there at every call you made. Love.
While this loving relationship seemed to have little to no flaws, everything has its peak. And with peak comes downfall. It’s not like either of you did anything wrong— things just got… boring, mundane, even. The fact that Aventurine wasn’t around that much anymore due to his demanding job along with this mutually hollow-feeling relationship, a sense of solitude came upon both of you. Even in another’s company, you still felt lonely.
Finally, you both sat down and had a proper chat which ended up with the both of you splitting up on neutral terms. As the love you both held for each other flew away, Aventurine made the decision to move out himself. With his presence leaving, a sense of longing began to take his place in your heart. Maybe in some other lifetime you both wouldn’t be heartbroken half the time.
With the mutual intentions of ‘staying friends,’ you kept each other’s contacts. And yet, you couldn’t help but wonder to yourself if it was really the right choice. With the blue glow of your phone screen illuminating your face in your dark bedroom, you made the choice of sending a risky ‘I miss you’ text to him.
Not believing that he would actually respond, you began to doze off. Before you could close your eyes fully, you were woken by abrupt knocking on your door. As you groggily went to answer it, you were met with Aventurine standing at your front door with an expecting look. “You called?” You knew that if you held his hand again, kissed him again, you would still feel something. But you also knew that it would never work out.
