-- The V model was built for war, specifically to help humanity protect themselves and most importantly - stay alive.

So, V1 was made. A warmachine made to kill, it's fuel being blood. It was possible for V1 to get blood through the exterior plating which allowed refueling through contact with blood rather than through a separate blood refueling process, which was, helpful in some way. Not a lot of money being wasted to keep refilling, though.

But, after the war, the New Peace was established by the public and thus rendered irrelevant.

When the New Peace was established, V1s production was unfortunately cancelled, and an updated prototype, V2, was created. V2, was created. It used the standardized plating, since durability was far more important during times of peace when no bloodshed was necessary.

So, in other words, V2 was mankinds peacekeeper, their guardian.
