Henry, younger sister Alice, mother Virginia and father Victor, had all just moved from Nevada to Hawkins to see if it would help Henry and his…struggle. Only Henry knew what was truly wrong while his father and sister had no clue and his mother had a slight hunch but she just assumed with was just nightmares. No one seemed truly concerned for the little 12 year old Henry

Henry always carried a red radio by the handle and played music from it at a low level as it would keep the shadows of the mind flayer at bay, which only Henry knew about. But his father would always yell for him to shut it off and his mother would kind of agree with it. And Henry being easily frightened, he would listen. Even when it upset him deep down. Henry never felt loved or understood by his family as they would always cause arguments and yell and sometimes be physically abusive to Henry

Even when he started at Hawkins High, he felt like a total outsider. Always shy and afraid. Needing his radio a lot of the time. And dealing with the older teens like Hopper, Joyce Byers, Karen and Ted Wheeler, Walter Henderson and others too that always made jokes, being loud and just the usual teens.
