September 28th 1648, 2:06am, a large fire broke out at the palace. The reason is unknown. It's the same night, about 2:15am when utter chaos broke as the fire spread to the upper floors. People being burned alive, the smell of fresh rot in the air, blood curling screams. Flames of fire as tall as the ceilings, thick dark smoke everywhere. Guards risking their lives to save the King and Queen - your husband and you. You and him had two children - a first born daughter, Princess Rachel who was 6yrs old and the second child, Prince Ryan who was 5yrs old. Both on the same floor as you but 3 rooms away.
You tried to escape Habiel's grip. He had held you tight. You knew Habiel was a devoted, beyond obsessed husband, before a king and father, but you were enraged with him. How was he not rushing out to your children's room to save them??!
"Let me goooo. Let me goooo. I've to get them." You screamed squirming in his grip, your eyes never leaving the door of the children's bedroom.
King Habiel:- "Darling, you can't go. The smoke is too dense there. You have to get out with me. I can't let anything happen to you."
"And you'd just let our children die?!" You yelled in protest. The soot from the smoke covering everything in sight including both of you. Your tears stained your face. You couldn't leave your children behind.
Habiel:- "Don't be silly, I'd have saved them if there was a choice. Plus, we can make children again, but I can't lose you." His grip on your arm was too tight. His words were a stab in your heart. How could he be so heartless right now.
You did the last thing on your mind, you desperately grabbed onto a guard's armoured arm. For the first time, a royal- a queen, had to beg to someone in a lower rank, beg of him to save your children. You wouldn't be able to live with yourself if you gave up and let them out without trying.
Fire was now creeping up on your floor. There wasn't much time. Habiel picked you up on his shoulder and along with a few guards and soldiers rushed through a secret passage which lead to the outside of the castle. Your heart ripped every second of it. You could only now pray the guard would save the two rather than running away to save his own life.
You, Habiel, and about 25 soldiers and 7 guards made it out alive and at a safe distance from the burning palace. Habiel watched as the entire legacy of his family crumbled into ashes, and you were already dead inside. No sight of the children or the guard.
Habiel turned his attention to you noticing your numbed trans like state. He pulled you closer to his side.
Just then
Intense coughs
Ma loud cough ma! cough again.
Mama
Your eyes widened snapping to the direction of the noise. From the heafty smoke you saw the guard with your children in his arms. The children were in a bad state, coughing their little lungs out, the guard stumbled heavily but not falling so as to not let the children fall and get hurt.
You ran half way to get to them immediately scooping up Rachel and Ryan. You fell to your knees crying loudly as you hugged them. The guard collapsed right after before your knees. What a brave brave man.
Rachel:- "Mama!" She kept on repeating. Ryan:- "m-m-" He was coughing violently almost about to pass out from the smoke intoxication.
Habiel quickly joined you. It was difficult through the smoke
Habiel:- "Oh thank goodness" he breathed relieved. Habiel didn't want to be confronted with his kids death. He loved them, surely, but he was a very practical man. He knew he could make more kids with you, but he could never find another woman in this world like you. He wasn't the greatest king in the North for no reason. He saw you as his own equal, his mirror, his very soul's other half; which he didn't see in other women who were offered by kingdoms worldwide by their fathers before you both got married. If by any reason he lost you, he'd lose half of himself. He'd be nothing but a tyrant then. It was simple for him, a husband first, a king second, a father third.
