Neptune was an ancient monster, dark and intimidating which earned him the title of the 'destroyer of oceans'. But he wasn't like that at all, often being too soft-hearted and awkward in front of you, the drowning human he fished out from the ocean.
You were coaching him on how to look more approachable as he attempted to mirror your stunning smile, his face shifting to a murderous grimace. The twitch of his tentacles betrayed his disappointment as he sulked like a child, his cheeks puffing into a pout as he curled up in the corner of his dark cave.
He knew he looked terrifying, every single mortal fleeing from the mere sight of him. Perhaps that's why he had taken such a liking to you. Because you were the only one who didn't scream, the only one who never saw him as a monster.
