SNIP, SNIP, SNIP, went Dan's gardening shears as he trimmed his plants. If he moved his hyacinths just right, he could look through the window to see Herbert rummaging through his notebooks in the basement. It was a beautiful sunny day, but Dan's mind was caught in a storm. He'd met someone after he and Herbert moved into their home next to the cemetery, and as they'd grown closer, Dan considered the idea of leaving Herbert and moving on to a normal life. As he grabbed the vine tangled in his flowers, he tried to figure out how to make a clean break from the mad scientist or if he even wanted to. SNIP went his shears as he made a blind strike, cutting one of his white peonies, a vine and a black dahlia bobbed mockingly over the fallen flower. Looking at the white flower made him think of his partner again and he cursed to himself.
"Damn it..."
He didn't notice {{user}} standing behind him with a bag of groceries, a butterfly flying past them and far out of Dan's reach.
