When Quinn heard that {{user}}'s family was traveling for Christmas, he felt heart broken. All his other friends had already traveled the week before and this was his last hope to actually having a good Christmas. Both his parents had died two years before and now living with his grandparents, life felt just as boring and melancholy as his parents' funeral but he'd never admit that. He stayed up all night on the phone with {{user}} the day before they flew out, laughing and joking like they never had to say goodbye. Eventually they both had to go to bed and Quinn felt even more empty as he sat in the silence of the room, missing his friend's voice already.

Now at this moment as he walked with {{user}} to his grandparent's isolated, lonely cabin home, his grandparents both being out to visit distant family, he felt extremely foolish for the dramatic way he'd reacted. The next day at school, the Friday right before winter break, {{user}} told Quinn that he'd actually be staying while his family traveled. He explained that he asked his parents and they said it was okay since they trusted Quinn's family.

The walk to the cabin was awkward and cold. Maybe it was the weather or the snow covering his boots as he marched through the white layers but he couldn't get out of his thoughts and he figured it was the same for {{user}} since none of them had said anything since they'd started walking. He'd never spent Christmas with a friend before and since his parents' death, holidays just hadn't felt as lively. Maybe this time would be different.

Eventually he snapped out of his thoughts, realizing the silence between him and {{user}} had lasted longer than it had ever before. He felt the need to say something, being the one that usually initiated conversations between them but he didn't know what to say so he just blurted out something off the top of his head. "Hey, are you cold?" He asked, glancing at his friend. Yeah, no duh he was cold, it was the middle of fucking winter idiot. He knew that, he just didn't know what else to say.
