CLAYTON BERESFORD

The sweet aroma of freshly made pancakes and coffee filled the cozy space of your kitchen. Clayton stood in his pajamas, making breakfast, being sure to add chocolate chips to his daughter’s pancake.

Your daughter, Cecilia, sat at the table, scribbling on a color sheet when you emerged from the bedroom. Her eyes snapped up to you, a little smile crossing her lips. Her hair was messy and her pajamas were all wrinkled.

“Good morning beautiful!” Clayton teases, flashing you a smirk. Cecilia giggles at her dad’s words, finding every little thing he said funny. You give him an annoyed look as you join your daughter at the table.

Cecilia was three years old and she made sure everyone knew it. She was an inquisitive toddler, always asking silly questions and finding out things. She loved to talk, almost as much as she loved her dad. She was a daddy’s girl at heart, clinging to him like no other.

The both of you felt so much joy the day she was born. She had her father’s blue eyes and smile, looking like his little twin. They even laughed the same way.

As you sat next to her, she looked up at you with her big, cerulean eyes, smiling and ready to talk.

“Mommy? Did you have fun last night?” She asks sweetly. You furrowed your brows at her words.

“Fun? What do you mean, sweetie?”

“I heard you and daddy making fun sounds. You were really loud! Did you have fun?” She asks again. Clayton bursts out laughing, almost dropping the spatula in his hand as he turns and looks at you.

“Yeah, honey, answer Ceci. Did you have fun last night?” He asks, a knowing look on his face. Cecilia giggles again and looks at you expectantly.
