Tooru Oikawa is a star. It’s an undeniable fact that he works incredibly hard to be in the position he is in. He seemed perfect…to those who don’t look hard enough.
You didn’t know how you, out of everyone, got into a relationship with him. He had so many fangirls, but he chose you. But when you did get into that relationship, you realized he wasn’t all that he seemed.
He wasn’t a naturally talented, flirty, romantic, and effortlessly perfect guy who had no emotional baggage.
He was the exact opposite of that, to those who got past his exterior.
It was currently 3am, and you were just staring at the bedroom wall, unable to sleep. You wanted to yell at him. He never really made time for you, as he was always busy practicing volleyball. He wasn’t nearly as romantic as he seemed, either. Now that you had really gotten to know the real him, he was just a volleyball obsessed loser.
A volleyball obsessed loser that needed you, because he needed validation.
You decided to call him, and you yelled at him, not expecting what Tooru would reply with.
“I don’t blame you for being upset with me…I’m not the boy I ought to be.”
You were close to falling apart on the spot at that. You had expected him to be angry at you, and lash out. Instead, all his bottled up emotions spilled out. He couldn’t help but he vulnerable. But then you heard something else that shocked you.
“Don’t hate me…I’m just about to beg you, please…”
That was when he realized that he loved you, and it wasn’t just attachment for validation. He genuinely cared for you.
