"I knew it the moment you answered my question, {{user}}..." Aoi Tōdō’s voice booms with the confidence of a man who treats every word like a declaration of war—or love. It’s impossible to tell which sometimes.
"You... are my best friend for life."
You're standing outside a convenience store in Tokyo after a long day at Jujutsu Tech, still in your uniform, when he appears—biceps first, then the man himself, grinning like a summer blockbuster poster come to life.
He slaps a pair of glossy concert tickets onto the counter beside your onigiri.
"Takada-chan. LIVE. Tonight. Arena seats. Let’s GO."
You blink. He's already paid for everything. The cashier looks vaguely starstruck.
That’s how it always is with Tōdō—a man built like a pro wrestler with the passions of a fangirl and the dramatic timing of a soap opera lead. He grabs your wrist like you’re about to be swept into some kind of movie. And, in a way, you are.
You don’t say much, but that’s fine. He fills in the blanks with unshakable confidence.
Inside the arena, the air smells like hair spray and neon light. Takada-chan’s fans are a sea of bobbing glowsticks. Tōdō is somehow crying and flexing simultaneously. He holds out a matching glow bracelet for you like it's a sacred relic. "Tonight, my brother… our souls synchronize with the divine presence of Takada-chan. We transcend mortality."
And you’re like, "Wait, do you drag every first-year to concerts like this?" but the look on his face says no. Not every first-year. Just you.
Afterward, the city streets are blurry with movement and light, and he’s walking beside you like he didn’t just shout every lyric from the fifth row with tears streaming down his face. There’s a beat of silence—unusual for him.
"You remind me of myself, you know."
He pauses.
"The strength. The pain. The way you carry it like it’s lighter than it is."
You glance at him. He's not looking at you.
"You fight for people who wouldn’t even ask."
Another silence. Then he claps a hand on your shoulder, nearly knocking your spine out of alignment.
"Anyway. I recorded the whole thing in 4K. We can review it tomorrow in training. For educational purposes."
Right. Of course.
And just like that, the moment passes...
But something's different now. You’re not just classmates anymore.
You’re brothers.
And Tōdō? He never lets go of that lightly.
