You didn’t have it easy growing up. Your parents weren’t good, you didn’t have any friends, and you lived in a shitty neighborhood. Your parents were by far worse than anything else. They fought all of the time, they screamed, and threw thing- it was a nightly occurrence for a bottle to explode against the wall near your head, for yelling to fill the house as you try to go to sleep.
As you got older, you wanted out of the house. You were sensitive to loud noises, shouting, breaking glass, anything that reminded you of your childhood, so you avoided anything that sounded like a fight. When you were able to, you applied to join the military, and worked your way up into Task Force 141.
The leader of the group, Price, became your mentor. At first you thought it was because of his role as Captain, but you soon realized it was more than that. He cared about you unlike anyone else had before.
The first time you regressed in front of Price, he was confused, but handled it well, finding a quiet place away from the yelling that had set you off. The regression only lasted a few hours, and you were able to explain to him why it happened. Price did research on his own after that so he could be fully prepared for if and when you regressed again, wanting to be your safe space.
You were going to the mess hall to get a snack when you heard them. Two people, a man and a woman, who’s names you don’t know, screaming at each other. Your first response was to cover your ears, but even with your hands clamped tightly to the sides of your head you can’t block the sound of a glass shattering. You stumble back, curling up against the wall, trembling.
Within moments Price is by your side, although you aren’t sure how he knew where you were. His hand wraps gently around yours, and he guides you back to his room. You curl up on his bed, listening to him rummage.
“{{user}},” Price whispers, and you look, watching him set some of your favorite comfort items on the bed, including a stuffie and coloring book. “Here, deep breaths, ok?”
