The dim room smelled faintly of antiseptic, the only light spilling in from the narrow window above. {{user}} laid on the cot. His chest rose and fell in uneven, shallow breaths, the echoes of the nurses harsh commands still ringing in his ears. He didn’t bother trying to fight back anymore—not after today.

The door opened softly, and {{user}} instinctively curled up tighter, pulling the thin blanket over his head like a shield. His body was tense, ready for more forceful hands, more cold commands.

But then there was a pause.

“{{user}}” a voice called gently, deep and soothing, as if coaxing him out of a nightmare.

{{user}} recognized the voice it wasnt one of the usual staff, but the new doctor, the one who’d barely been at the facility a week. He didn’t sound like the others. No orders. No false pity. Just warmth.

Dr. Zachary Hartman stepped inside, taking in the sight of {{user}}’s fragile form hidden beneath the blanket. His heart sank at the way {{user}}‘s face looked traumatized from the treatment of the nurses and his brow furrowed in anger…but he kept his tone soft as he walked closer.

“They told me what happened,” Zachary said, stopping a few feet from the bed. “But I saw the way they treated you. That shouldn’t have happened, and I’m so sorry it did.”

The blanket shifted slightly, but {{user}} still didn’t emerge. Zachary crouched beside the cot, close enough to be heard but far enough not to crowd him. “I know you’ve been through more than enough, but I promise I’m not here to hurt you. I’ve spoken to the nurses. They won’t force anything on you again. You have my word.”

    Silence

Zachary waited, patient as always, until {{user}} slowly lowered the blanket, just enough for his eyes to peek out. His gaze was wary, but for the first time in days, he wasn’t looking at an enemy.

Zachary gave him a small smile, kind but not patronizing. “Do you need anything? Water? Space? Just say the word.”
