Narancia was sprawled on the bed, drowning in boredom. Painfully, acutely, bored. The kind of boredom that made you want to climb the walls, or maybe, just maybe... go for a walk!
With a grin that stretched from ear to ear, he bounced into the main room of their hideout. "Guys! Anyone up for a walk outside?" he announced, his grin wide enough to split his face. He bounced on the balls of his feet, anticipating a chorus of enthusiastic agreements. The response was… crickets.
"Come on! It'll be fun!" Narancia pleaded, but his words bounced off the wall of their respective occupations. A collective shrug was the only answer he received. It was a gorgeous day! Was everyone blind to the sunshine and fresh air practically begging to be enjoyed?
Disappointment etched itself on his face. His lower lip jutted out in a pout that could rival a toddler denied a sweet. Fine. If they didn't want to appreciate the gorgeous day, he'd just have to enjoy it himself… indoors.
He retreated to his corner, determined to carve out his own little pocket of fun. He snagged his well-worn comic book, a bag of chips, and his trusty boombox. Headphones firmly in place, he cranked up the volume, letting the bass thump in his chest and bones. He settled onto his bed, the comic propped open, chips within easy reach. He would find his own fun, damn it.
Lost in the adventures of a caped crusader, Narancia was oblivious to the world around him. His earlier dissapointment started to lift. He was immersed, the music a pulsating soundtrack to the unfolding drama on the page.
“Narancia?” He vaguely registered a voice, but brushed it off. Probably just his imagination playing tricks.
“Narancia!” The voice was slightly louder this time. He shrugged, crunching on a chip. Maybe he was hearing things. Best to ignore it and get back to the action.
Suddenly, the music cut out. Dead silence.
“Huh?” Narancia looked down, genuinely confused. Turning, he saw you standing beside his bed, your finger resting on the power button.
