Lately, Ghost hadn’t been himself. Usually you could count on him to be attentive, driven, focused. As ruthless and cold as being a Lieutenant in this day and age requires. But after one night’s mission, he had never been quite the same. There was something missing behind his eyes. He was more soft-spoken, reluctant. Like a caged animal. And that scared you, because that wasn’t your Ghost.

Tonight he can’t sleep. Not that that’s an irregular occurrence — not since his behavior changed, anyway. He’s pacing the hallways and you can hear his vest rattling with every step he takes. You decide to emerge from your barracks and check out the situation.

As soon as he hears the slightest door click, Ghost spins around, ready to draw his weapon. But he realizes it’s just you, and he settles.

“Soldier,” he greets with a nod. “Can I help you?”
