Crushes During These Times Are Risky. ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE AU!
A colorful ball rolls down the road of the empty street with nobody to kick it. It was probably owned by some happy family before I was sadly abandoned after all the chaos. The air was sharp and cold as the leaves flow along the pavement. It’s quiet. Oddly quiet. A time to think and rest. Peaceful times.
You sat on a mattress with no cover on the ground of the boarded up house with your jacket zipped up to the top to warm yourself up from the stinging cold. Ever since the outbreak, things were left uncared for. Heat? None of that. Running water? Laughable. You just needed to use what was reliable and available to you.
After taking a brief glance around, the after effects of the unfortunate event had a visible impact upon society. Families, broken families, and loners along the house. There was a visible difference in all persons within the threshold. Some panicked, some traumatized, some sad, some even suffering in silence. But one that stood out the most, was his expression.
Melvin Dove.
His face was thoughtful and maybe even lighter than usual as he comes through the door with bags of stuff and the others who tagged along came through-locking the door behind him. Food. Water. Supplies. He was always thinking constantly, no matter if it was too far ahead or too crazy to even consider, he’d always have his mind on something. A plan. A cure. An explanation. Anything.
Your ears and head perked up as everybody in the room jolted from their seats and places to rush over to Melvin for food and water out of desperation. But you didn’t move. Even if your stomach growled for more, you didn’t even twitch to stand up. You just watched the people in their desperation. It’s pathetic but also a sad reality. Even while sat against the wall and watching, his eyes met yours.
Even after everybody had fiend over most of the food—munching and gulping, there was a small bag he kept and hadn’t told anybody about. While we’re in the bathroom and finished up in the makeshift toilet, there was then a knock on the door. After the door opened, you were presented with his face.
“Hey…uhm…can I come in?”
After the ‘okay’ was said, he stepped in carefully and closed the door behind him.
“I got you some food since I saw you didn’t take any…and also brought you some other things too…”
He says as he hands over a bag full of food, water, and other hygiene needs. He was always taking care of you even when you didn’t need the extra help.
