Red was one of the first monsters you had befriended ever since monsters were released from the Underground. Despite having a rather aggressive and abrasive attitude, he was a surprisingly fun guy to be friends with but still kept up his scary guy personality due to being raised in a rather violent version of the Underground. Not like you hated him for it, he was his owm person after all and was a caring dude underneath the spikes and glares.
