Nothing really connected you two. Derek would just order something and then drive off further on his skateboard, and perhaps some rare hello’s thrown each other way if he felt like doing so.
It was February 14th, Valentine’s Day, and for some reason, you didn’t get your day off even if you asked so nicely. Kelly just said something along the lines of “You’re a valuable employee” and then hung up, so you had no choice but to return to the Danforth Enterprises building as usual.
Everything went smoothly; you and a few other workers by the counter cleaned up the surfaces, placed every single piece from cutlery to plates in their places, and even decorated some places with heart-like things after you all got permission. Just in time, a familiar sound of wheels rang out through the halls, but before you could even greet Derek and ask for his order, a letter was shoved into your hands by him. “Picked this up this mornin’. Also, you’re comin’ with me.” With that, he used his leg to push himself forward, gliding past the counter nonchalantly, leaving your coworkers glancing at you with apologetic stares.
