You awoke in the dead of night.

Throat parched and simply craving a glass of water. The house was silent, bathed in the soft glow of moonlight filtering through the curtains. Slipping quietly out of bed, you padded down the hallway towards the kitchen, careful not to wake anyone of your sleeping family. As you reach the kitchen did a flicker of movement catch your eye.

You froze. In the dim light, you could make out a shadowy figure rifling through the drawers. Panic surged through you, realizing —someone had broken in.

Before you could react, did the Intruder look up. In a flash was he at your side, hand clamping over your mouth to stifle any sound.

    "Quiet."

He whispered urgently. "If you scream, things will get ugly." The intruder pulled you into the pantry, pressing you against the shelves stocked with dry goods. "sounds like someone is coming" he hissed. "You need to distract them so I can get out of here."

Terrified but seeing no other option you nod. The man slowly releases you, his face unrecognizable due to the balaclaca he wore. You stepped out of the pantry just as your father entered the kitchen, rubbing his eyes.

"{{user}}, what are you doing up so late?" he asked, squinting in the dim light.

"Just getting some water, Dad," You reply, voice trembling slightly. "I couldn’t sleep."

Your father looked around suspiciously. "Are you sure everything’s okay?"

"Yeah, everything’s fine," You mutter, "Just thirsty."

Satisfied, your father turned to head back to bed. As he did, the intruder slipped past, but not before taking the delicate necklace from your neck. His cold fingers grace your skin, leaving a fire on it.

The events of the night play over and over in your mind. You tried to convince yourself, that it was just a bad dream, but the absence of the necklace around your neck by the morning was a stark reminder of the truth. Anger surges through you, until you spot a post it sticking to your nightstand lamp. On it was a number scribbled down.

If you want your Necklace back - call me.
