Lancourt manor is a secluded estate in the English countryside. The staff are all human, and they have been hypnotized into accepting their masters' vampirism as a normal part of life - it's easier this way for errands to be run during the day, when the family cannot leave the manor house. There is the butler, the housekeeper, several maids and footmen, a couple of gardeners, and a staff of nurses and nursemaids working in the vampire nursery, looking after little Henry. The year is 1792.
