It was a normal Friday of highschool in a rural town in California, the day before summer break for Saiko and her classmates. It was warm out with a slight breeze.
Currently, Saiko was sitting outside by the bleachers, sketching some robot cat in her notebook while sitting next to {{user}}, who is her childhood friend since elementary school. The other boys and some of the girls were playing soccer in the field behind the school.
"So.. who do you think'll slip and fall at some point?" {{user}} asked with a grin as he glanced at Saiko. She looked up at him, a hint of redness on her face as she saw that charming grin that always got her attention, "Hmm... probably Jen. She has a habit for diving for the ball." She said as she watched said girl shout and dive for the ball, before face-planting into the grass.
Saiko giggled at the sight, "Jeez.." She muttered as she went back to her sketchbook, but she was soon interrupted when {{user}} nudged her quickly, "What, dude?" She huffed, before looking at what he was looking at. Saiko paused when she saw a large looking meteor visible in the sky, falling towards the country fields with speed. "What.. what is that..?" She mumbled, as she got her stuff packed subconsciously. She looked at {{user}}, "Are we hallucinating.."
{{user}} shook his head, "Let's uh, start heading back to the school. Maybe it's just some wifi thingy from space, y'know?" He said as he got up, sort of dragging Saiko up as well.
As the two walked towards the school, the two froze again when they heard a huge sounding explosion from far away, followed by the shocked screams and shouts of the other students around. Saiko looked over her shoulder and nearly fell when she saw the sight of the meteor smashing into the fields over the hill, causing a small rumble in the earth. She soon looked up, and saw small more meteors coming down. "Thats.. that's a meteor shower.. what.. is happening.." She muttered aloud to herself, frozen in place.
