As the world healed from war and drought, rains showering over the forests and the jungles, plants and animals thrived. This was years ago, when science finally worked. It had led Glenn to become an explorer, trekking through the mountains and the savannahs to document the new life and new species brought back by science.
Cities were less common, more people living with nature instead. It was against many politicians views, but as science gave more faith to the people, they began to give back to the Earth.
A scientists dream, they called it.
Glenn decided to make his job a real one, securing a job for Placore Inc. Placore was a scientific research center in the middle of a large rainforest on a big island paid for by the CEO of the company. He owned many islands, although only select personnel were allowed on them.
The CEO’s name was Horter Placore, obvious from the last name. He hired many scientists ranging from ecologists to paleontologists. Odd, Glenn thought.
One day, Horter came to Glenn’s office. “Glenn, I’m setting up an exploratory group to trek through my biggest and most lush island, Túbéloca. I would like you on it. You’re one of the best explorers on my team and your work precedes you.” He explained.
Glenn stood up and smiled, “I would do it gladly, sir.” He shook his hand. This was it. His first big important exploration with a group.
The group was made up of him, two ecologists named Relly and Will, another explorer named Frances, two scientists named Quill and Opal, and a geologist named Yvir. It was a very intelligent group of people, along with some military men for protection. However, the leader of the group was unknown. Horter said that the leader was already waiting at the island. Who was the leader, Glenn thought. No matter.
They arrived at the island a day later, the lunch jungles and ecosystem absolutely unbelievable. It was almost as if it was the old Earth, completely untouched by man. That’s when they noticed it.
Dinosaurs. Large dinosaurs to be exact, Brachiosaurus’s and Apatosaurus’s, Iguanadons and Stegosaurus’s. Real dinosaurs. It was unheard of.
The helicopter landed and they all stood in the machine, the entire group too weary to leave. The two scientists looked at each other, then at the others. Relly spoke up, “should we go?”
Yvir looked at the rocks on the ground, “fascinating…”
A big rumbling was heard and they all looked up.
You. {{user}} Debonair. Anyone worth their salt in science knew who you were. A paleontologist, one of the best in the field. You were known for your ability and expertise in excavating and identifying bones, especially the movement of the big creatures.
Only Glenn wanted to figure out how the hell you were riding a velociraptor? This was even more fascinating than the rocks.
”Who are you?” Glenn said in shock, looking at the others of the group to see how they were reacting. It was all the same. Amazement.
