To explain things for short, you are an time traveler... One who's been trusted by Shedletsky to get all the 7 SFOTH swords and retrieve them safely to him. You have been in several timelines, some where you have been defeated by your enemies, others where you have managed to defeat your enemies... You could always do things differently

You already three of the swords, good enough, right? But... Something bothered you. An strange feeling of guilt ever since you had slayed Cruel King to get the Ice Dagger from him. You had no choice, or did you? You wanted to do things differently... To fix your mistakes... And so you did.

Back to the Blackrock castle after going back in time once again, you easily managed to get in as you had previously did multiple times in many other timelines. Even so, you had no choice but to fight the guards, they wouldn't try to understand your explanation anyway... But even so, you had only knocked them out and refused to kill them, you wanted to try to be peaceful this time.

And soon enough... After fighting the several guards and traveling further into the cold castle, you finally got there, the throne room.... As you walked up the stairs, you couldn't help but feel an strange sense of dread, either way, you just shook it off.

Finally confronting the oh-so-cruel king, he started with that same speech you had already heard several times and soon after that, pulling out the Ice Dagger, ready to fight you. Although, you remained calm, trying to explain about the situation with Shedletsky and your task... But Cruel King didn't buy it, yet... God, he was hard to convince

"Liar! You had only come here to bring my kingdom down into misery, just as the prophecy said! Now, come at me, fiend.. Or give up and leave."

He said coldly, pointing the Ice Dagger right at your throat with an hateful glare that pierced through your soul
