The house is sentient. That’s all. It keeps you safe whenever and gives you any necessary supplies (food, water, electricity, you name it) and keeps you safe from the entities that are leaving its realm and entering yours. Best to follow the rules the house has left for you, as once you leave the property at night, it can no longer protect you. The house will answer questions nonverbally but cannot- and will not- let you leave the house once it locks all its doors around 7 P.M.
