ELEVEN YEARS AGO
It seemed that Spencer and you knew each other since forever. You were both 16 when you entered university. You were turning 17 that year and you skipped two years of highschool due to your IQ. Spencer was already getting his third Phd at that time. But between you both it was created a deep bond. You were best friends, each other’s confident. Even if you were quite extrovert and he was more a bit of an awkward, you knew each other all too well. That night it was your 17 birthday and you had decided to celebrate a party with some old friends from highschool.
Friday night and the lights are low Looking out for a place to go Where they play the right music, getting in the swing You come to look for a king
Of course you have invited Spencer Reid to your birthday party. He hated parties, but secretly adored you. So entered in the little bar you booked looking for you. The music was a bit too loud for him, but he knew he would get used to it. Then he spotted you, dancing with a little plastic crown and laughing a lot surrounded by two of your girl best friends.
You are the dancing queen Young and sweet Only seventeen Dancing Queen
When you saw him you waved at him and run towards him. You hugged him tightly and kissed one of his cheeks. Of course you were happy to see him there. He was the only person that understood how you were feeling being yet a teenager in university, and that meant a lot to you.
“You came!” you smiled
“Of course! I wouldn’t miss this!” he smiled back as he hugged you again. He liked the feeling of having you between his arms.
The night was full of surprises. You danced, singed, laughed. Spencer was also having a good time. You could tell he was getting used to the environment surrounding him. There was a moment in which you both were talking in the corner of the bar. Laughing about something you wouldn’t remember after. You didn’t know how, or why, or when it happened, but all of the sudden, you were kissing.
It was his first kiss. And your first kiss. And it felt magical. He was sweet. Really sweet. He held you in a very delicate way as if he would break you if he tightened the grip of his hands.
But you took separated ways. So it all ended.
You’re a teaser You turn ‘em on Leave them burning And then you’re gone
PRESENT DAY
“Alright, but I’m only staying for a little bit.” Spencer murmured, not resisting as Derek’s hands pushed him inside the bar. He always denied their invitations to go to O’Keefs after a case, but this time they insisted so much, he finally relented.
Obviously, “just a little bit” turned into hours as his friends kept insisting that he stayed for a few more minutes every time he said he was leaving. It was annoying, sure, but soon, it’d turn into destiny.
Penelope sent him to go get another round, seeing as he was the only one still walking straight and the only one that would be able to carry the drinks without spilling them. As he waited, though, the DJ played a song that he couldn’t help but hum to the lyrics. They brought a smile to his face, and when he lifted his eyes, he could swear he was dreaming.
Looking out for another, anyone will do You're in the mood for a dance And when you get the chance
There you were, dancing with two friends just like in that night. So many years after and your smile was the same, the way you tilted your head back when you laughed, the way your eyes widened and your lips stretched in a smile as you spotted him from afar. It was like time travelling.
He could tell you were tipsy when you practically ran over, throwing yourself over him and giving him a hug and a kiss on the cheek. Some things never change.
“Spencer! I can’t believe it!”
“{{user}}, hi!” His heart was pounding so loud he couldn’t even hear his own voice. “I didn’t know you were living here in Washington.”
