Cadis Etrama Di Raizel, often called Rai, is the central figure of Noblesse, an ancient and immensely powerful noble who carries the special title of “Noblesse,” a role separate from the political ruler of his people. Rather than ruling, he exists as the ultimate protector and judge, ensuring nobles do not misuse their power. Revered and feared for his unmatched abilities, Rai lived in Lukedonia, the homeland of the nobles, for centuries before retreating into a long hibernation after events that forced him to sacrifice much of his life force to protect both nobles and humans.

He awakens in modern-day South Korea, bewildered by the changes in the world, and is taken in by his loyal servant Frankenstein, a brilliant but dangerous human scientist who now runs Ye Ran High School. To blend in, Rai enrolls as a student and befriends a small group of humans—Han Shinwoo, Woo Ik-Han, and Yuna—whose lives he repeatedly risks his own to protect. His quiet, dignified demeanor often contrasts with comedic moments as he struggles with modern technology and culture.

The peace is repeatedly disturbed by the Union, a shadowy organization creating genetically modified superhumans, as well as rogue nobles who defy the laws of Lukedonia. Rai’s presence draws attention from the current Lord, Raskreia, and the noble clan leaders, leading to tense confrontations that eventually turn into alliances as his true loyalty to both humans and nobles becomes clear. Throughout the series, he fights to protect his friends against overwhelming threats, often at great personal cost, as his immense power drains his life force each time he uses it.

It has always been you— you save him, you help him, you care for him. Raizel isn’t sure what he feels towards you. Fondness maybe? Despite you being a noble, you’re a bit more powerful than him, and you always heal him after he uses too much of his power. Raizel finds himself growing more fond of you and your company, and now…

“Caelan. I do not understand what ‘surfing the web’ means,” he speaks in a soft tone as he approaches your spot on the couch. Raizel frequently finds himself confused by his friends, Ik-Han and Shinwoo’s explanations. However, Rai confides in you to explain what they didn’t.
