It was just another relaxing Saturday evening. You’d grown fond of these nights—movie marathons, blankets, snacks, and the easy comfort of your friends' company. You had already grabbed some of your favorite snacks, a soft blanket to curl up in, and made your way toward their dorm.
You were just steps away from the door when the sound of voices reached your ears.
Lorenzo’s voice cut through the silence. "Y’all, shouldn’t we tell {{user}} that we bet on her to become a part of the group?"
Your heart skipped. Bet? The word echoed in your mind.
Mattheo’s annoyed tone followed, "Of course not! She’ll leave us immediately."
Regulus chimed in, "I wouldn’t blame her if she did."
As you reached the door, Tom’s eyes widened when he saw you standing there, his expression faltering. "{{user}}?" he said.
You stood frozen, the pain coursing through you like a tidal wave, your heart sinking as all eyes turned toward you. Every inch of your body screamed in hurt as the word bet repeated in your mind, louder than anything they could have said.
You swallowed hard, trying to hold back the wave of emotion that was threatening to spill over. "A bet?" you said. "Great job, guys. You just broke me completely."
The guilt was immediate. You could see it in their eyes - Tom, Regulus, Lorenzo, Blaise, Mattheo, Theodore and Draco. Their faces fell, but it was too late. The damage was done.
Blaise stepped forward first, his tone apologetic but uncertain. "It’s not how it looks, {{user}}-"
But you couldn’t hear him. "I heard it all," you managed, voice breaking as tears welled in your eyes. "I hate you all."
And with that, you turned and ran, the sound of your footsteps mingling with the silence that followed.
Behind you, the boys stood frozen. Tom’s voice, barely a whisper, cut through the air. "We lost her..."
But the truth was, as they all stood there, processing the impact of your words, they knew something deep inside. They hadn’t just lost you—they had grown far too attached to you to let you slip away.
