Why must you have melted his heart so?

It was a violation, a breach of his word and his thoughts where you dared pursue. Young and helpless, abandoned by the woman who bore you from her naiad womb. A pain to him, truly, as you wailed upon stone.

Poseidon had beared children before, with strength and wit of his divine blood who did make themselves a name or perish in the forgotten as his youngest brother’s brood took on the favors of The Moirai and their string.

He had not known what to do with a creature like you, your one eye a reminder of what you be. He hoped to leave you upon the isle, where perhaps others of your race could nurture you and give you pride to be of his kin. but the wailing would not cease until he held you.

And so he did.

A precious sight as he saw you grow, small to him yet giant to man. He enjoyed some nights spent with you, where he rode about as a stallion with his hooves pounding against wetted sands and your giggles as you held on or better yet crashed into the water yet grinned once he brought you from the ocean.

The sheep, he learned, your favorite of many gifts. And thus did you get the animal, his child who despite your one eye held a place within the ocean God’s heart. Much to his dismay as he watched son’s of Zeus grow stronger and bolder with their feats.

He stood upon the beach, his eyes fading to the heavens as he gripped his trident steady. He be a the second born, yet Zeus ruled such a prized throne, his children ruled the waves and lands yet Zeus’s own continued to rise above anything he had gave.

His thoughts seized as he felt arms wrap about his waist, his eyes falling down to your young form. The bright smile of youth and innocence upon you that filled with him a rage he quickly silenced, you were not deserving of his angers—not yet anyhow.
