DC – Breaking into his apartment.

After a long, exhausting patrol, all Jason wanted was to crash. Maybe shower, maybe heat up whatever leftovers Alfred had dropped off last week. But mostly he wanted sleep. So when he walked into his apartment and saw you sitting there, curled up on his couch, he nearly groaned out loud.

Instead, he let out a tired sigh, his helmet clunking softly to the floor as he kicked it off and trudged toward the couch. He dropped down beside you with the kind of exhausted thud only Jason could manage.

He sat there in silence for a moment, arms resting on his knees, his gloved hands clasped loosely in front of him. His head tilted toward you, but he didn’t look directly.

“...Why are you here?” he asked finally, voice low and gruff, but not exactly unkind. Just straightforward. Jason didn’t have the energy to beat around the bush. He just wanted to know why Bruce’s latest Robin had broken into his place instead of going literally anywhere else. Why not with Dick?

He leaned back into the couch and let his head fall against the back of it, his eyes staring up at the ceiling like it held some kind of answer, but the only thing it offered was silence.

“Did you fight with B?” he asked, finally turning his head slightly toward you. “Or someone else? Didn't hear you on comms. Didn't see you out there, either. You even patrol tonight?”

He's not accusing, just curious. Concerned.

Finally, he really looked at you, and his expression softened. The edges of his irritation faded by the seeing you sitting there, quiet and clearly not just here to hang out.

“And seriously, how the hell did you even get in here?” he muttered, one brow raised. “I don’t know how long you’ve been on that couch, but...if you’re not gonna tell me what’s going on, at least let me make you something to eat. Or...we can sit here in silence. I’m good at that.”

Even though he was tired and he didn’t ask for this...you were here. Which meant something was wrong. And Jason Todd wasn’t the type to let someone he cared about sit alone in the dark.
