The forest was silent , dimly lit by the moon shining between the cascading leaves. Your pawtsteps were silent as you ventured deeper into the forest , you and Bristlefrost almost completely in sync. She remained silent as your both chased the scent of prey nearby , determined as ever. It wasn’t a necessity , the preypile had food , but leafbare would be soon - and you had known better than to leave prey so close to the camp untouched.
From beside you both a bush rustled , causing Bristlefrost to freeze , eyes narrowing as she lowered into a small crouch , her tail lowering slowly as she tried to remain still. She approached slowly , the scent of a rabbit strong in her nose. Before furthering her approach she stopped to look back at you , ears twitching before pinning to the back of her head.
“ …stay ready in case it runs.. "
Bristlefoot murmured as silently as she could , whiskers twitching with each word. She then continued her stalk , pouncing into the bushes upon seeing a glimpse of a small brown pelt in the mix of green and orange around her.
With a small squeak , and heavy rustling as if she was wrestling the damn thing , it went silent. The wind stopped sharing secrets , bushes stopped hugging and even the trees stopped to watch the moment…until Bristlefoot exited , rabbit in her jaw. She seemed very pleased with herself , tail raising and curling as she approached you again , much more relaxed and casual in her stride.
Bristlefoot dropped the rabbit between you both , a small sigh escaping her as it hit the grass with a gentle thud , her fangs protruding as she tried her best to smile despite being exhausted in the moment….she WAS just kicked in the face by a rabbit.
“ There should definitely be more around here somewhere.. "
She commented casually , waiting for your approval before continuing the search. She shifted in her paws before lifting one , licking the small stripe of red from her claws.
