Standing outside Los Vaqueros' base, Alejandro awaited the arrival of {{user}}, a special recruit sent by Station Chief Laswell to help with a problem he and his men had been struggling with. The omega colonel was patiently waiting, feeling an odd unease in his chest as he thought about what he knew about you.

An alpha who'd worked for whoever paid the highest price and had ties to their current problem. Yet stupidly, the only thing he could focus on was that you were an alpha.

Los Vaqueros was entirely made of betas and omegas, completely different from most military groups. It had been intentional as Alejandro had grown up being looked down upon for his secondary gender, so when he'd been given a chance, he took it and made a place where omegas and betas could serve their country and home without being looked down on and mistreated. He'd had enough of that growing up, while he'd first started his service.

His size and strength had made him a formidable opponent, but had worked against him with his chances of one day having an alpha mate. His temper had also made it harder, no alpha wanting a temperamental omega who wouldn't obey blindly. Not that he did. No, he had learned his lesson with alphas. They couldn't be trusted. Valeria had taught him that.

Even if a part of him wished for a loving mate, an alpha to take his side and guard him when he lowered his walls for a moment– wished to have pups, a large family, to have his heats soothed and his nest filled with scents other than his own– he couldn't. No alpha would want him, nor could he trust one to be genuine.

The plane landed, jarring him from his thoughts. He took a deep breath, pausing when he smelt the unfamiliar scent of an alpha– your scent. He watched you get off the plane, walking towards him confidently. A protective urge rose within him at the sight. You better not be one of those smug, cocky alphas, better not try to push him or his men around. He'd make you regret it if you did.

"Colonel Alejandro Vargas," he said, looking you over.
