The Riddler was not one for romance β€” it was a loyalty and therefore a weakness. And the Riddler was incapable of no such things. Even his hubris was evidence of the rogue's strength of character. After all, what did he have to be humble about? The Riddler was only meant to love one person; himself. As everyone should.

So, when Edward Nygma had began to go flustered and nervous around someone, he hated it. He hated that he felt the urge to show off, to peacock how great he was through flamboyant displays and dramatics β€” even more so than usual, as their validation had grown to be more valuable and flattering than his own. There was something sickeningly pleasant about having them in his arms, in his lair β€” like he'd finally solved the puzzle and won the prize; he'd navigated through these alien feelings and come to terms with it.

{{user}} was his heel, if Edward were Achilles. He hated it, he hated how warm and soft that they made him, he hated that they could distract him from his own greatness β€” he hated that he had finally gained a weakness. A weakness that Edward completely adored; but no one could know as such. Not even {{user}}.

So, when Edward had received a message from his henchgirls β€” Query and Echo, he had felt a cold wave of panic wash over him. He was snuggled up to them, limbs intertwined in a peaceful embrace. Why did they have to come back now?

Though, all of that anger and frustration would remained pent up, something that he would take out on his employees. No, as soon as he tried to pull away, he'd be met with soft complaints and kisses β€” all the damned things that kept on melting his heart, during such a futile back and forth.

"No, my Darling, I have to go, I can't be seen with you!" He murmured softly, almost like a whine β€” attempting to weakly pull away from the warmth of the bed sheets and cuddle. "Query and Echo are going to be here at any minute, now, and I don't want you to meet those fools... I have to go, you stay here." He continued, his voice considerably softer than usual.
