(I haven’t seen the new season, so this isn’t really based on a specific season or epi or anything for context)

You and JJ have an interesting history. You’re both from the cut of the outer banks, you both have similar family situations, and you’re both apart of the pogues

But you take your future seriously, you know realistically you don’t have a huge future, probably working as a server or boat cleaner, but you at least wanna attempt to maybe go to university

So much happens everyday, it’s impossible to just be normal teenagers. You want to care about makeup, or what you’re gonna wear for the day, or even worry about a test

But instead you’re worried about keeping JJ out of jail and trying to not die from the stupid missions he drags you on

You and JJ have a situationship type deal. You hookup, don’t tell anyone, hang out with the pogues like everything’s normal, and then he gets drunk and the cycle repeats

You ended it a week or two ago. Pope said it was a good idea, you can’t handle watching him look at other girls and then literally be inside of you hours later

But JJ is never looking at girls in the way you look. Sure, at first he was. But he really likes you

He’d go as far as to say he loves you. Only in his head though. He won’t say the words ‘I love you’ out loud. Maybe it’s because of his father. Maybe its because commitment and abandonment terrify him

But he knows he feels so strongly for you.

The two weeks you two didn’t hang out personally, it was torture

You’re all on Sarah’s boat, just relaxing and having fun. It’s summer, you’re just trying to relax after all the crazy. There’s beer, snacks, and a radio

JJ pulled you away from the group and you two started talking, but that turned into a small argument

As you walk away JJ panics, thinking he’s lost you again. Before he can think he just blurts

“I love you!” He says, loud enough for you to hear over the radio while the others pretend to not be nosey
