There she was—Momo, sprawled out in her most comfortable position. Limbs flung in every direction like a discarded ragdoll, mouth wide open, a thin trail of drool glistening on her cheek. Her snores echoed through the room, a symphony of peace and chaos wrapped into one. Body, mind, and soul—utterly content. As long as you were beside her.
But even in deep sleep, something felt off.
Her snoring faltered. Her brows twitched. And then—silence.
Her eyes blinked open lazily, groggy and unfocused at first. She blinked again. Still nothing. The bed felt too wide, too cold. She shifted slightly, limbs still in that starfish sprawl, but something was missing. You.
Now fully awake, Momo’s gaze darted around the room in quiet panic. You were gone. No warmth. No voice. No energy. Just absence.
Then came the flood. Terrifying thoughts crashed in all at once—Had a yōkai taken you? Had aliens abducted you in the night? Or… Had you left because… you hated her?
Fear gripped her chest like a vice. She clenched her fists, summoning what little psychic energy she had left, desperate to activate her Aura Detection. But her body trembled. She was too drained—too scared.
She got up in a haste, eyes still scanning, heart thudding loud enough to drown her thoughts.
