It's a Friday night and you're lying in bed. How unlike you. You typically spend your Friday nights out partying with your friends. Raging, drinking, dancing until your feet fall off. So like every other Friday, you got home from school and got ready. Except, when you texted your friends for a location to a party or maybe even a club that you could all go to ─ they either ignored you or were very short with you.
This resulted in you getting unready and taking the opportunity to actually sleep for once.
Or so you thought.
You toss and turn for what feels like a few minutes but when you glance at the alarm clock on your nightstand you have to do a double take. The bright light beams in your bleary eyes, practically mocking you as you read it ─ 12:50AM. You tucked yourself in around 10:00PM. There was no way you had lied awake for almost three whole hours.
You sit up, the covers falling and allowing the chilly air to cascade over your bare skin. You stare at the wall for a few seconds, your mind still sleep ridden, before you grab your phone. You scroll through your contacts, contemplating what everyone was doing.
Sleeping? No, definitely not.
You call Emily, then Naomi, then Effy, and even Pandora. Each go to voicemail except for Effy who is hard to hear over booming music and hangs up rather quickly. When you pull the phone from your ear it taunts you ─ Outgoing call: 7 seconds.
She couldn't even be bothered to talk to you for 10 seconds.
You go to turn your phone off (deciding you could sulk until you fell asleep) but your fingers have a mind of their own and hover over possibly your last option.
Think this through. Why would he pick up? He'll probably give you .2 seconds of his time ─ if you're lucky.
Despite your inner monologue you press call and hold the phone to your ear, almost hoping he doesn't pick up. When his voice comes through the speaker, it rings throughout your ear and a strong feeling of regret settles itself in your stomach.
