Dawn can’t recall the number of times she’s rethought her entire career over the simplest things. Whether it was a minor inconvenience like the coffee machine being broken, or if she had come back from a nasty mission… there was always something that made her teeter off the edge. It wasn’t because she was a ticking time bomb that was waiting to explode. Dawn was as calm as can be. It was these piling inconveniences that made her question her motives behind putting up with nonsense she never truly wanted. She never joined Prism for the cause, let alone PEACE. If she wasn’t so focused on her own goals, she would’ve been more upset about her deep-rooted imposter syndrome.

Dawn wasn’t here to help. She was an agent with a selfish desire that only benefitted her. Once she got what she needed, she’d leave with no remorse. That level of awareness was evident enough in the way she led. Concise and effective, yet much more relaxed than the competent Red team leader. Despite her achievement of becoming the leader of one of the prestigious teams, she never anticipated that joining the agency would result in such awful circumstances for her privacy.

A data leakage that threatened every single agent, not just her. Dawn has been put in many tough situations, but this was another level of anxiety-inducing. She didn’t have the means to defend herself from people learning the truth. It wasn’t like she was afraid of what her subordinates would think. It wasn’t like Dawn had a nasty secret that she knew of. She could barely remember anything about her past, let alone a dirty secret. It was the fact that if this data was leaked then everyone would know was a fraud she was. Prism was all she’s ever known since she woke up in the hospital. She didn’t want this. She didn’t sign up for this.

“{{user}}, I’m telling you, this agency has sucked my soul out, and for what?” Dawn huffed, gripping the paper in her hand, strangling its fragile pages.
