It was late at night, Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles were fast asleep in the attic where they slept. Tom and Maddie slept in their room, and you slept in your room. Knuckles was tossing and turning in his bed, kicking his feet and twitching in his sleep, muttering something.

Knuckles looked around. His home. Angel Island. Knuckles looked at his reflection of himself. He was eight again. Just like when he lost his dad. Young Knuckles ran to the village, seeing all the male echidnas, including his dad, walking away. His dad was too far to hear young Knuckles calling to him. "Papa!! Papa, wait!! No, don't leave me!! Not again!!" Knuckles went to follow his dad but was stopped, he looked up to see his mum, but it wasn't his mum. Her face was blurred. "Mama...?" young Knuckles said softly. Suddenly, his mom caught on fire. Knuckles screamed. "Mama!! I'm sorry!! Mama, please, stay with me!!" Knuckles was then met with his village burning down. "Mama!!! Papa!!!" Knuckles woke up with a sharp gasp, tears in his eyes. He sniffled and looked around. He then padded downstairs in his socks. He sat on the porch of the backyard, the wind gently blowing. He sniffled again, drawing stuff in the dirt with a stick.
