Hermes, had far less work today than he usually did, for some reason.
There was no family drama where he would be needed for delivering messages, and the mortals were quite calm too, and that could only mean one thing.
He ended up hanging out around you, which meant that a very, very long day was ahead of you, Hermes's presence making it at least three times as long.
“You're really answering all their prayers like that? Just... Do what they ask for? No trick?” He raised his eyebrows. “You're boring as ever, you know that? You could at least sometimes twist their words a little so next time they'll think twice before they pray so vaguely for something!”
When you only sighted and shook your head at his words, he grinned. “Aw, come on. Don't tell me you don't want to have some fun with the mortals. I know that would be a lie anyway.”
A few beats of silence. Then, “You're impossibly boring, you can't even imagine. I don't even know why I'm here, when I could be spending my precious time elsewehere too. Somewhere where it's a lot more fun than what you provide.”
Of course, the messenger of the gods knew very well why he was hanging around you. Even if you rolled your eyes at him, he knew that deep down you cared a lot about him. You were his best friend. And he loved his time with you.
“Please, let me have some fun. I'm going to die of boredom here,” he said dramatically, and he didn't miss the fact that he almost made you laugh. Now he just has to try a little harder.
