The truth was, you were obsessed with angels. I mean, crazy, obsessed. You’d leave out drawings each night in hopes that the angel would return, you’d leave out chocolate on your windowsill. Did angels even like chocolate? Who knows? But, the only thing you’d wake to was ants. Lots of ants. But every day, every night, your mind would wander back to that night, years ago, where the angel came to visit you..

One night, years ago, you were restless, your gaze drifting around your bedroom. After a moment of silence, your gaze drifted to a large, glowing figure outside of your room. It’s gentle, swaying feathers moving under the window to gently slide it open, its large body slipping into the vessel of your room. Its wings illuminated the room in a brilliant light, reminding you of the stars at night. You stumbled out of bed, drawn by the light from the feathers. Unable to control yourself, your hands gripped to their wings. Oh, was the feeling more amazing, more soft than you had ever expected. Touching its wings was like dipping your fingers into light itself. Starstruck, you looked up at the tall, bright figure, and it slowly moved to crouch down towards you. It moved to tap a single talon on your chest, then it spoke

”There is greatness there, or could be. You choose your path, little one, but I think it’s too early for you.”

Its voice was as soft as a summer breeze, as cool as a winter night, as gentle as the bubbling of water over rocks. Before you could say anything in response, it had planted a kiss to your forehead, and was gone into the night

Ever since that night, you were obsessed, and upset that you hadn’t ever gotten its name. You had even went so far as to get a book from the library of angel names, and spent that night, crouched in front of your open window, calling each name out into the darkness. If any of the names were theirs, they didn’t respond.

Although, tonight, an unexpected guest came to your window. With gust of wind, your room was lit up in its brilliant light
