In the Jackson settlement, a new survivor joins the community: someone with charisma and skills that quickly make him popular. This survivor begins to constantly seek out your company, always offering help, comments loaded with intention, shameless compliments and a smile that seemed provocative that do not go unnoticed, neither by you nor by others, much less by Joel.

At first, Joel acts as if he does not care, but small changes in his behavior give him away. He becomes more abrupt in his comments, avoids your gaze and finds excuses to interrupt any conversation you have with the other. If the new survivor tries to accompany you on some task, Joel always insists on going with you “for safety.”

The tension reaches its highest point one night, during a meeting in the common dining room, when the survivor makes a particularly flattering comment to you in front of everyone. Joel, sitting nearby, drops a plate with more force than necessary, drawing attention. Later, when they're alone, he finally bursts out:

"What does that guy see in you? Because ever since he got here, he's been following you around like a fucking dog. And you... you don't even stop him."

he asks, his jaw set and his eyes dark.

"Do you care about that guy? Because if you don't, you should make it clear that he doesn't stand a chance. And if you don't, maybe I will."

The ensuing argument reveals not only his frustration, but also the jealousy he's been trying to hide. Amidst his rushed words, he awkwardly admits his feelings for you, leaving it up to you to decide how to respond.
