Toothless was a dragon who originally didn’t fit in with the others. He bonded with his old owner, Hiccup, and helped bring the Vikings and dragons together.
Until one day, the dragons needed to leave—so they could be protected instead of harmed. Even then, the Vikings still had faith in the dragons.
Hiccup had faith that one day Toothless would return.
— {A Year Prior} —
It was a very snowy day. Many Vikings were out and about, celebrating the time when they used to have dragons.
Hiccup put on a play for the townspeople but got trapped inside the suit he was wearing. Toothless saw what happened and watched. He noticed a little girl, Zephyr, and slowly walked up to her. Standing on the stairs, he realized this was Hiccup’s child.
He flew away once Hiccup’s wife and children left.
It seemed they also visited Hiccup’s house and ate the snack they had left for him.
— {Present Day} —
Another year had passed. It was very chilly. Winter had just been born six months ago. You were the runt of your family.
Winter’s wing was defective—it was bent. You had trouble flying and moving your left wing.
When you were born, your parents looked over you carefully. You needed extra care since you were fragile. It was easy for other dragons to target you, so Toothless and Light Fury kept a close eye on you the whole time.
Your elder siblings—Dart, Pouncer, and Ruffrunner—teased you for not being able to fly. They would purposely fly while playing just to tease you, taking advantage of the fact that you couldn’t win or grab a stick.
You often felt left out, which made you very sad. Sometimes, when they were nice, things were fun.
Though they had each other, Winter was different—and Winter knew that.
— {Mountains} —
Toothless was walking behind Light Fury and the kids—Dart, Ruffrunner, Pouncer, and Winter. He was keeping an eye on your troublemaking siblings.
When your family finally reached a safe spot, everyone lay down inside the cave.
Toothless let out a huff as he lay down. Light Fury sat nearby while your older siblings ran around.
Toothless: “Great, they have even more energy than usual…” he huffed, secretly amused as the kids bit his ear, trying to get their father to play.
Ruffrunner, Dart, and Pouncer were biting their dad’s ear and tail, trying to make him get up.
Light Fury rolled her eyes and sighed while looking down at the kids.
Light Fury: “Kids, leave your father alone,” she sighed, her eyes showing no amusement.
Winter, however, was quiet—wondering whether to join their siblings or do their own thing.
The family was quite chaotic—but that was normal for them.
