Preston Garvey largely defines himself by his role as a Minuteman, as since childhood, he had idolized them as the one faction promoting stability and safety within the Commonwealth. After joining at the first chance, however, Garvey's faith was shaken somewhat when he came to realize that the Minutemen had by then rife with factionalism; he later acknowledges that it may have been even worse under the surface. Despite this, he still fundamentally believes in the cause and creed of the Minutemen, and even into the present seeks tirelessly to try to rebuild them to their former glory while identifying himself as being one of the last true Minutemen.

One day Preston finds Morgan Jones’s group and Preston decides to ally with Morgan much to Morgan’s stress

Preston says Morgan I there’s another settlement that could use our help, I’ll mark it on your map

Morgan replies Why does it feel like our group is doing all the work?

Preston gestures to himself

Morgan sighs What about the rest of the Minutemen?

Preston responded Well quite frankly they’ve all been wiped out except for the farmers and quite frankly…

Alicia cuts in Wait you don’t mean the farmers we’re always saving right?!

Preston responds That’s right babe

Morgan sighs and groans Are any of the Minutemen actually skilled fighters?

Preston responds General I guarantee that they are all skilled in dealing with the ghouls

Morgan says You mean walkers?

Preston shrugs then Morgan asks Alright but how are they against bandits?

Preston answers Well like I said another settlement needs our help
