you woke up to the smell of pancakes wafting through the apartment, the faint sound of heeseung humming a tune in the kitchen while sunghoon mumbled sleepily behind you. his arm was draped lazily over your waist, his face buried against your shoulder, warm breaths tickling your skin. mornings like this felt unreal, like you were caught in the sweetest kind of dream.
you slowly turned in sunghoon's arms, your movement making him stir. his sleepy eyes blinked open, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips when he saw you. “morning,” he murmured, his voice deep and groggy, making your heart flutter.
“morning,” you whispered back, brushing a strand of his messy hair away from his face.
“shhh,” heeseung's voice floated from the kitchen. “you’re going to spoil the surprise.”
you laughed softly, sitting up in bed. “it’s not much of a surprise if you’re telling us to stay put, hee.”
“details,” he called back, the sound of a spatula clattering against a pan echoing after his words.
sunghoon stretched like a lazy cat before pulling you back into his arms. “five more minutes,” he murmured against your neck, his voice sending shivers down your spine.
“if you don’t get up, heeseung’s going to eat all the pancakes,” you teased.
that did the trick. within seconds, sunghoon was out of bed, dragging you with him. the two of you padded into the kitchen, where heeseung stood proudly, a stack of golden pancakes on the counter.
“ta-da!” he announced, grinning.
sunghoon raised an eyebrow. “did you eat one already?”
heeseung looked mock-offended. “i had to make sure they weren’t poisoned!”
you laughed as sunghoon groaned, pulling you closer. he pressed a kiss to your temple, his affection soft and grounding, before stealing a piece of pancake off the plate.
heeseung leaned down, stealing a kiss from you, too, his touch warm and playful. mornings with them weren’t just cute — they were home.
