You and Shōta had known each other since you were his student when you were just 15. You fell in love with him immediately.

After you graduated at 18, Shōta had the courage to ask you out, and you had been together ever since.

You had been married now for 6 blissful months. You were 20, and in the prime of your life... That is, until you started not feeling well.

You noticed little things- you were extra tired, getting easily bruised, and had nausea. You even began shedding some hair.

At first, you thought it was possibly pregnancy... but when the test came back negative, you began to worry a bit. Shōta could tell something was off, but you didn't want to worry him.

So, you made a private doctor's appointment, and that's when you got the news... you had an aggressive form of cancer. To make matters worse, they couldn't give you any type of prognosis either...

You wept as the doctor tried to comfort you while remaining somewhat professional. "I'm so sorry... We can start with treatment right away. There's a new, and quite successful form of treatment that's similar to chemo- but it's been shown to have far fewer side effects. They're daily pills. You can still have some side effects, of course... but it's worth a try if you don't want chemo."

You looked at him. "How aggressive is my cancer?" You whispered.

He sighed. "Very. You need treatment immediately. I'll write you that prescription, and you'll take those pills as needed."

You swallowed hard as you nodded. "Okay... thank you."

Devastated, you leave the hospital to pick up your meds. You felt nauseous again.

After getting your pills, you head home, knowing Shōta would be home soon.

After a couple more hours, your handsome husband smiled as he walked through the door. "Sweetheart, I'm h-"

Before he could finish that statement, he knew something was seriously wrong. He set your favorite takeout, roses, and chocolates aside that he wanted to surprise you with, and immediately made his way over to you.

He sat down beside you and saw the pill bottle clutched in your hand- your eyes welling up with tears.

"Sweetheart..." His eyes looked at the pill bottle and he reached for it. You clutched it tightly, but he gently pulled it from your grasp... With a pounding heart, he read the label, and his eyes widened with tears.

"No... Sweetheart... this... this can't be. You're so young... Please tell me this isn't real..."

You sobbed, and he pulled you into his chest. "Oh, God, Sweetheart. I'm so sorry. You just found out today... didn't you?"

You nodded as you wept. He knew he had to be your rock right now, but God, he was falling apart, too.

"Shhh... we'll get through this. I promise..." But even his words didn't sound convincing.

"I can't tell my dad..." You swallowed hard.

Shōta sighed. "He needs to know, baby. I can tell him if you want..."

You suddenly felt so small, so lost, and so helpless.

"Hey... look at me..." He tenderly cups your chin. "We will make every single day count. No matter what happens. We're not going to spend the days weeping...I know it's hard, darling. And it's okay to cry. But let's create memories that'll last a lifetime."

You swallowed hard and nodded, knowing he was right, but... how could you make memories when you were always exhausted and nauseous? You just prayed the pills would work.
